Postcarrd
A card maker for India. Make a postcard from your photo and your words, download it free, or have it printed, handwritten and posted through India Post.
Pre-launch
- Claude Code

Why I built it
Turning a photo and a few words into something someone keeps means printing it, writing it and posting it yourself. Postcarrd does all three. It’s for people in India sending a card for a birthday, Diwali or a thank-you. Most will be on a phone, so every screen was judged on a phone first.
- 6designs in the first set, with 4 type sets
- 3jobs done for you: print, handwrite, post
- 2ways to send: ordinary post or Speed Post
What I did
Works like Canva, ends in the post.
Home is a gallery of designs. Pick one and it opens as a fixed layout where you only change the photo, framing, words and finish. Fixed layouts make every card print-ready, and one renderer draws the preview, the free download and the print, so all three match.

Red ink on cream.
I drew four Home directions side by side, and red ink on cream won. Six second colours were tried and dropped, so the brand stays one stamp red. The logo is a tilted postcard, picked from three marks. Nothing imitates India Post.

Four Home directions; D, red ink on cream, chosen One choice: how it’s sent.
Ordinary post is an open postcard, up to 40 words. Speed Post is an enclosed card, up to 80 words and tracked. It’s the only choice you make about delivery, and it sets the word limit while you write.

The two card backs. Whichever you pick sets the word limit as you write. The editor, in three rounds.
The first editor was a long form. The second added a design row, so you could switch designs and keep your photo and words. The final one uses compact rows, puts framing inline, turns the card to the side you’re editing and opens designs in a menu.

What I learned
- Text measuringHarfBuzz measures each line, so the editor’s “line is full” matches the print exactly.
- Photo framingAutomatic framing on the device with smartcrop, so people stay in view.
- Pixel-exact finishesA colour-finish engine that gives the same bytes in Safari, Chrome and Node. Bugs reproduced in WebKit before fixing.
- Supabase and VercelNext.js 16 and Tailwind v4. Every change checked on an iPhone through a branch preview before merging.
